Cultural knowledge, made measurable.
We build vertical AI platforms that structure, interpret and make usable the knowledge held by territories and cultures. From Funchal, Madeira.
We work as a technology integrator, not a supplier of parts.
That means we take responsibility for the whole chain: the system architecture, the adaptation of the models, the scientific method behind the numbers, the governance of the data, and the running of the platform once it is live.
We favour open models adapted on our own data over closed commercial APIs. It keeps the method reproducible, the data ours, and the cost of running the system predictable as it grows.
-
Language models for specialised domains
Adapting multilingual models to fields with their own vocabulary, where general-purpose models lose accuracy.
-
Prediction over networks and time series
Modelling how position and reputation move through institutional networks, and what that predicts.
-
Data engineering at scale
Acquisition, entity resolution and normalisation across sources, languages and decades of records.
-
Product engineering
Turning research into platforms that institutions and professionals can actually use day to day.
Our first platform
ArtPulse measures the cultural capital of contemporary artists.
The contemporary art market is one of the largest and least transparent economies in the world. Acquisitions, programming and career decisions rest on fragmented information, personal networks and judgements that cannot be audited.
Existing tools record what has already been sold. ArtPulse reads specialised criticism across several languages, maps the institutional and curatorial networks an artist moves through, and expresses both on a single auditable scale — the Cultural Capital Index.
-
Institutional
Strategic view for museums, foundations and cultural policy agencies.
-
Professional
Scouting and due diligence for galleries, advisors and collectors.
-
Research
Access to the underlying data and metrics for academic work.
ArtPulse is in research and development, in co-promotion with the University of Madeira. It is not yet commercially available. A controlled pilot with a small number of invited institutions is planned — if you would like to be considered, write to us.
Smart Money Radar keeps track of European funding.
Public funding for the cultural and creative industries is spread across dozens of programmes, each with its own calendar, eligibility rules and reporting duties. The information exists, but it is scattered, written for specialists and changes constantly — so organisations miss calls they would have won, or win them and then struggle with what follows.
Smart Money Radar brings the open calls, the deadlines and the obligations that come after approval into one place, for organisations in the cultural and creative sector and for those who advise them. It is in development.
A Madeiran company, working for an international market.
Mesclamatriz — Sistemas de Inteligência Artificial is based in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and wholly owned by APCA, the Agência de Promoção da Cultura Atlântica, a non-profit that has designed and delivered innovation projects from the island since 2005.
The team brings together AI engineering, data science and art-historical scholarship, and has experience coordinating consortia in EU-funded research and development programmes. Our products are digital and exportable from the first day, built in an outermost region of Europe for institutions anywhere.
